The Galaxy of Taste: From the Biosphere to the Plate is an immersive interactive installation created for the Alimentarium in Vevey. Building on the museum’s long-term research into edible biodiversity and culinary cultures, the work transforms complex food-system data into a navigable visual universe. Across a three-part digital environment, visitors explore more than 1,200 edible species, over 600 dishes from twelve culinary regions, and the ingredients that connect them through a dynamic central sphere, a tree of edible life, and thousands of AI-generated images. Using a 3D controller, audiences move between recipes, organisms, and ecosystems in real time, discovering how food links biodiversity, culture, and the act of eating. The project combines data visualization, interface design, real-time systems, and AI image generation to turn scientific complexity into an accessible, sensory, and visually striking museum experience.
